After a dismal and unproductive 2015-16 season which saw Nathan score only 53 points something had to change. Some people forget that Mackinnon was a fist overall pick in 2013. His production for his first 4 years didn’t resemble anything close to a first overall selection. In all fairness the Colorado Avalanche have just been a terrible franchise. Under the leadership of Matt Duchene nothing was working for the AV’s. In early November of 2017 Matt was traded to the Ottawa Senators. Nate had 8 points in 11 games in October and was a minus 6. After the trade of Duchene to Ottawa, Mackinnon exploded for 20 points in November and was a plus 11. Nathan continued his torrid November by posting up career highs in goals with 39 and assists with 58 for a whopping 98 points and 5th place in the scoring race. Point production expected of a number 1 overall pick.

Nathan Mackinnon is an incredibly gifted skater and moves the puck at high speed. He can thread passes to teammates at high speed. Nathan is a deft stickhandler who cuts to the net very well and has a wrist shot that scares most goaltenders.

Nathan spent 66% of his even strength ice time with Landeskog and Rantanen last season. Look for that to continue this season as they have very good chemistry together as evidenced by Rantanen putting up 84 points last season, while Landeskog finished the year with 62 points on the strength of 25 goals.

You can purchase Natham Mackinnon cards at my store here Off The Post. The card pictured on the left is an Upper Deck Young Guns Rookie card. Be careful when purchasing this particular card. There is a version made by Upper Deck that was a mistake. The error card has Pink on it. There shouldn’t be any pink, it was a mistake made while manufacturing it, so be careful.
